Abstract Vibrations are one of the major problems in the field of metal cutting, especially when the process becomes unstable and chatter occurs. Research of the last decades has brought up many approaches how to mitigate vibration problems, but most of these measures are unknown on the shop floor and therefore not applied. The iwb developed and installed a new Learning Factory called LOZ (Learning Factory for Optimized Machining) that introduces these approaches to machine users as well as production managers in order to close the gap between research and industry. This paper presents an Android application supporting the participants to apply the approaches, which are trained by the Learning Factory, on the shop floor.
