The words redundancy and abundance have many different meanings in various areas outside the fields of motor control and biomechanics. Before trying to define and analyze these terms in specific ways that would make them useful for analysis of biological movements, it makes sense to look at the meanings of these words in other areas and try to summarize the main similarities and differences in these two words.
