ABSTRACT

The objective of this work is to study the impact of storage systems on major indicators of planning studies for low voltage grids, namely the equivalent duration of peak power for fast power losses assessment. This work is conducted from the point of view of a distribution system operator, contracting with external players a flexibility from a local storage unit. A mathematical model is proposed to analytically compute the downstream resources. This model is a function of the storage system regulation objective (minimizing losses) as well as other modelling hypothesis, discussed in the paper. Three steps are identified depending on the penetration rate of the storage system in the grid. Finally, a sensitivity study on the storage efficiency as well as the optimization time horizon of the regulation of the storage concludes that the method is robust.
