ABSTRACT

Electrospun nanofibers are of great significance to many applications. Herein, we report a method to produce carboxymethyl chitosan/ poly (vinyl acetate) (CMCS/PVA) nanofiber webs directly and smoothly by an in situ mixing electrospinning which allows for the simultaneous electrospinning of solutions immediately after mixing. The goal of this study is to facilitate the electrospinning process of CMCS/polymer composites at a high ratio of CMCS and discover their applications in fruit fresh-keeping. The results prove that the electrospun nanofiber webs of CMCS/PVA at the flow rate of 1.6/0.2 ml h−1 can be fabricated smoothly. Moreover, these webs have shown great potential in keeping the bananas’ core fresh owing to their antibacterial activity, breathability, edible, and non-poisonous. We believe this work can be served as a good reference for generating CMCS/polymer composites fiber webs smoothly.
