Endometrial carcinoma represents the most common female genital cancer in the US. From 2006, both incidence and death rate increased by about 1% and 2% per year, respectively. The average age of woman diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma is 60, while it is uncommon in woman younger than 45. The differences in the epidemiology, presentation and biological behaviour of endometrial carcinoma suggest that there are two types of pathogenic diseases: type I endometrial carcinoma, also known as estrogen dependent or endometrioid type, and the type II, which is estrogen independent and non-endometrioid type.
