Highlights • Higher soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and nitrogen (MBN) was found under Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices.• Extracellular enzyme activities were higher at tillering and panicle initiation stage of wheat plant growth• MBC, MBN and enzyme activity varied with wheat growth stages• Nutrient uptake,C mineralization and wheat grain yield were higher in CSA based scenarios.
