Abstract The aim of this work is to describe and analyze a new theoretical model to simulate the spread of malicious code on wireless sensor networks. Specifically, this is a SCIRS model such that population dynamics, and vaccination and reinfection processes are considered. The local and global stability of the equilibrium points are studied and the most important security countermeasures are explicitly shown by means of the analysis of the epidemic threshold.
