ABSTRACT

Abstract This chapter introduces the sonochemical synthesis of metal organic frameworks (MOFs). The main purpose is to present an alternative way of preparing MOF crystals. State-of-the-art ultrasound-assisted techniques for the preparation of MOF nanoparticles are thoroughly discussed. Focusing on the optimization parameters, the chapter also draws attention to the phenomena taking place under ultrasound irradiation and the benefits compared to conventional methods. The effects of these factors, such as reaction time, concentration, selection of solvent mixtures, etc., on the quality of final product as well as on the potential applications are highlighted.
