ABSTRACT

Abstract Anxiety and depression, two different pathological conditions, have received enough attention in the literature due to their involvement in the progression of various diseases. Both have a tendency to worsen Alzheimer’s disease (AD), as memory loss itself is a stressful event that can be modulated by numerous process. Basically, several routine processes like the ability to heal and cope with day-to-day situations and lifestyle of the patient are altered by them, which further deteriorates the condition. Such processes produce abnormal emotional and aggressive symptoms that produce long-term effects on patient health. Defining anxiety in individuals suffering from AD is quite difficult because of various existing overlapping symptoms. But today this can be achieved using well-equipped and developed instrumentation facilities. In this review, we have discussed the relation between anxiety and AD. Also, the mechanism of involvement of anxiety in AD pathology is discussed along with literature limitations and directions for future research.
