Abstract Numerous interesting and useful physicochemical properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have made them one of the most fascinating nanomaterials for decades. Increasing applications of CNTs from tennis racket to space elevator, that is, almost every sector requires CNTs, which have pressed its demands for industrial production. Therefore availability of CNTs in the environment is anticipated. Understanding the fates and potential risks of these environmental CNT is important to study in detail for its commercialization and wide acceptance. In this chapter, we highlight the proper way of CNT disposal at first followed by describing all important methods for identifying and quantifying environmental CNTs. Next, we corroborated the CNT ecotoxicological risks at various levels based on past research activities and also draw some knowledge gaps for future study.
