ABSTRACT

Darbhanga district is known as city of ponds. The present investigation was undertaken the study of the physico-chemical conditions of two perennial ponds- Maharani Pokhar and Raj Pokhar of Darbhanga city. Present study revealed that physico-chemical parameters was comparatively higher of Maharani Pokhar to other pond, Raj Pokhar. The water samples were analyzed for water temperature, transparency, pH, free CO 2 , chloride, carbonate, bicarbonate, magnesium, dissolved oxygen (DO) and biological oxygen demand (BOD). Higher value of physico-chemical parameters BOD, is considered to be sewage water pollution indicator for eutrophication and it also lower down the fish production.
