The association between inadequate sleep and accelerated brain ageing

Highlights • Inadequate sleep accelerates brain ageing (deviation above the chronological age).• Brain age delta is a highly sensitive marker linking poor sleep to brain ageing.• Multimodal analyses of brain ageing outperform unimodal approaches.• Bias correction (removal of age-related bias) improves estimates of brain age delta.
