ABSTRACT

Sometimes sensors are dropped from air craft over places where physical deployments of sensor by human are not possible. Once the sensors are dropped they start sending sensory data to base station during the life time of their existence. Measured data must be associated with the place (location) to be meaningful an application. Since the sensors are dropped from air, knowing exact location from where the sensor get placed finally becomes difficult unless sensors themselves find their location somehow and include it with their measured data. The problem of sensors finding their own locations is known as localization. Localization can be assisted sometimes by certain reference nodes (like GPS enabled nodes). A combination of reference nodes and geometric methods can be employed to solve localization problem. There are many existing algorithms for the same. The purpose of this project is to find new and improved method of localization or develop a framework for qualitative evaluation of the existing methods.
