ABSTRACT

Abstract This article explores the relationship between cultural policy and state intervention in France, the United Kingdom and the United States during the second half of the twentieth century. It examines the limits, challenges and conflicts in this dynamic, using a segmented analysis of each country to show how different contexts shaped different patterns of change. Through the methods of historical and comparative analysis, the article also highlights the main developments in response to significant political cycles and socio-cultural transformations in each nation.
