Endogenous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can indicate the state of human health and are utilized in clinical diagnostics and health surveillance. Dimethylamine and ammonia are characteristic VOC gases associated with kidney disease. This study first used density functional theory (DFT) simulations to investigate the adsorption performance of dimethylamine and ammonia on Ni-doped BN monolayers. The electron structure and band structure of nickel-doped boron nitride substrates were analyzed, showing significant electron structure changes in different gas environments. This demonstrates the potential of nickel-doped boron nitride substrates in gas sensing and selective detection applications.
