Modeling and predicting user locomotion for improving redirection techniques in limited workspaces has been widely explored. However, little research has addressed user locomotion behavior when navigating with several Locomotion Techniques (LTs) simultaneously. This work-in-progress paper explores user navigation behavior in VR using walking, steering, and teleportation. We analyze navigation states (NS), representing the active LT used during a task, through discrete-time Markov chains and N-grams based on data from a user study. Our preliminary findings contribute to understanding user locomotion behavior and provide insights into improving navigation in VR through analyses of users’ NS.
