Soil nutrients and floristic distribution are fundamentally interconnected, shaping plant communities through multiple ecological assembly processes. Here, we introduce the nutrient spectrum, a novel methodology for visualizing and linking soil nutrient concentration to floristic distributions across a grassland degradation continuum. Unlike traditional ecological tolerance concepts, which emphasize a species presence within defined environmental limits, this method captures continuous species abundance patterns along nutrient gradients.
