Phylogenetic analysis and morphological evidence reveal a new genus Motuoorchis in subtribe Goodyerinae (Orchidaceae)

Abstract A new monotypic genus, Motuoorchis is created to accomodate Rhomboda pulchra. Description and illustrations are provided here along with the new combination Motuoorchis pulchra. Both morphological and molecular phylogenetic evidence (ITS, matK and trnL-F) suggest that Motuoorchis is closely related to Rhomboda within the subtribe Goodyerinae (Orchidaceae: Cranichideae), but mainly differs in having strip-like appendages on the column as well as shorter and wider leaves.
