This paper proposes interleave-division multiple access with correlated sources (IDMA-CS) scheme. Message sequence of each user is compressed by distributed source coding (DSC). Then, compressed sequences are encoded, modulated and sent to a common base station (BS). The BS carries out multiuser detection (MUD) and DSC decoding to recover original message. We develop a separate DSC decoding and MUD (SDSC-MUD) method, which explicitly accounts for the impact of MUD and achieves an integrated processing framework. Further, we propose a “turbo-like” joint DSC decoding and MUD (JDSC-MUD) method that exploits the source correlation to facilitate MUD. It demonstrates that the proposed IDMA-CS scheme can increase the system load to more than 1.3~ 3 times that of conventional IDMA. Numerical results also validate the effectiveness of the JDSC-MUD method.
