As nation pursues target and economic resilience, electricity distribution system must evolve to support a low emission, sustainable energy economy. It is time for the planning of the electricity distribution system to implement sustainable practices with a strategic approach to build and operate efficient, environmentally friendly, and inclusive electricity distribution infrastructure assets. This paper proposes a strategic planning framework for Indonesia’s electricity distribution sector based on Environmental, Social dan Governance (ESG), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) principles and Net Zero Emission (NZE) Target. The framework aims to redefine how energy and electricity infrastructure is designed, managed and operated by embedding decarbonization, equity, resilience and efficiency as core planning values. Drawing from national policies such as RUPTL 2021-2030, PLN’s Sustainability and ESG Strategy. The study formulates a masterplan incorporating renewable energy integration, circular asset management, electric vehicle, high end utilities and safety equipment, smart grid deployment, employee readiness and stakeholder engagement. The roadmap envisions a future-ready distribution system aligned with ESG-SDG, NZE Targets and evolving market demands, ultimately transforming electricity distribution from a linear utility model to dynamic, sustainable energy business ecosystem.
