THEORY-BASED VIEW IN STRATEGY: RECENT CONTRIBUTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT The Theory-Based View (TBV) has introduced a novel approach to strategy by suggesting that managers develop and assess logical pathways to address pressing problems and improve organizational performance. This article offers a concise review of the TBV, discussing new contributions that frame strategy as a theory of change and as a collective process of theorizing. It also outlines research questions, highlighting avenues for the further advancement of the TBV.
