Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a key biomolecule involved in the regulation of stress and several neurological disorders. Existing sensors for NPY typically rely on antibodies or aptamers as biorecognition elements. In this work, we report the detection of NPY via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) using a short, synthetic peptide-based recognition molecules, P1N2. Our results demonstrate that P1N2 recognition yields a linear impedance response over a picomolar range of NPY, with excellent selectivity against control peptide, peptide YY (PYY). Our study suggests that peptide-based EIS sensors can provide a competitive alternative to antibody- and aptamer-based platforms for neuropeptide detection.
