Francesco Ramirez is the Dr. Amy and James Elster Professor of Molecular Biology (Connective Tissue Diseases) in the Department of Pharmacology and Systems Therapeutics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. His long-standing research interest focuses on the role of ECM proteins in health and disease. Major accomplishments include the characterization of genetic lesions and pathophysiological mechanisms in osteogenesis imperfecta, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, congenital contractural arachnodactyly and Marfan syndrome.
