An important issue in critical care medicine is the identification of ways to protect the lungs from oxygen toxicity and reduce systemic oxidative stress. The current study investigated the ability of aerosolized extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC‐SOD) to protect the lungs from hyperoxic injury.
