Short-term effects of defoliation intensity on sugar remobilization and N fluxes in ryegrass

N uptake is positively correlated with photosynthetic capacity in ryegrass. The N sink strength of leaf meristems increased in response to defoliation. C and N reserves were remobilized only under severe defoliation.
