ABSTRACT

An order storage assignment problem (SAP) is to find an effective way to locate products in a warehouse in order to improve the operational efficiency of warehousing system. Since SAP is an NP-hard problem, many heuristic algorithms have been proposed. We analyzed the influence of product weight on the stability of the shelf, as well as the influence of the frequency of products entering the warehouse and the time required to arrive at the warehouse on the efficiency of the warehousing operation. An optimization model based on shelf stability along with inbound and outbound efficiency was proposed and genetic algorithm is used to solve the model. The validity of the model and its solution method is verified by experiment. The results show that the model can effectively reduce the storage time and increase stability of the shelf.
