Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor: a Case Report

Introduction: Adenomatoid Odontogenic Tumor (AOT) is an uncommon benign epithelial lesion of odontogenic origin, representing 1.3 to 4% of odontogenic tumors and affects mainly young women in the second decade of life. It is more common in the maxilla and is most commonly associated with maxillary canines unerupted. Due to the delay in seeking treatment, usually the lesion is large, which may cause fear of intervention by the professional. Objective: To analyze the clinical, radiographic, histologic, and treatment of a patient with AOT. Method: A case report showing a lesion located in the anterior maxilla. Incisional biopsy under local anesthesia with a flap debridement in order to protect adjacent structures was performed (gums and bone). Conclusion: After scaling and curettage, the lesion was removed. There was no recurrence within one year after surgery.
