In the benzamide molecule, the amide group is almost coplanar with the benzene ring [dihedral angle = 4.4 (1)°]. An intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S6 ring motif. In the crystal, molecules are linked into a ribbon-like structure along the b axis by O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
