The essay traces this trajectory to consider the political ramifications for translating the Canadian state police into cinematic and televisual commodities that stand in for nation. Resume: La trajectoire de la police montee en tant que signe d'autorite et d'authenticite dans les narrations sur le Canada peut se diviser en au moins trois categories: l'histoire materielle de la police monte comme agent d'un imperialisme britannique au niveau global et canadien au niveau local, la celebration romantique de cette histoire, et les interventions parodiques dans la creation de ce mythe. Cet article retrace cette trajectoire afin de considerer les ramifications politiques de la transformation de la police d'etat canadienne en bien cinematique et televisuel qui represente la
