En la primera part es presenten els aspectes teorics d’aquest enfocament d’investigacio orientat al canvi i a la transformacio social, i se’n destaquen les caracteristiques basiques, els elements clau, el valor de l’equip motor i les fases estructurals per portar a terme una IAP. A la segona, i a tall d’exemple, s’exposa el disseny d’un diagnostic participatiu en tres instituts d’educacio secundaria de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) per contextualitzar el territori i identificar les vies i el grau de participacio dels joves. Els aspectes teorics presentats a la primera part, juntament amb l’exemple practic del disseny del diagnostic participatiu a la segona, ens permeten reflexionar sobre la integracio dels tres elements definitoris d’aquesta metodologia: la investigacio, l’accio i la participacio. Aquest enfocament implica un replantejament epistemologic i metodologic basat en una analisi critica amb la participacio activa de la comunitat per estimular la practica transformadora i el canvi
