ABSTRACT

Abstract Translational omics refers to the effective deployment of genomics- and other omics-derived molecular information, to the clinical setting, in order to make conventional medicine more precise. The overarching ambition of precision medicine is, therefore, to seamlessly integrate biomolecular data from omics fields with clinical data. Fueled by advances in computational science, including machine learning and more recently deep learning approaches, we can expect exponential growth in discoveries in terms of markers of disease susceptibility, diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. However, with such an unprecedented volume of discovery on the horizon, maintaining the highest possible standards of research, quality and integrity will become even more critical to ensuring an effective transition to precision medicine.
