Abstract Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common condition defined by the inability to achieve penile erection sufficient for sexual intercourse. Being a diet high in refined carbohydrates, fatty acids, and cholesterol, the Western diet has been associated with a number of cardiovascular and metabolic sequelae, including ED. Here, we review the literature on the effects of the nutritional elements and dietary patterns of the Western diet in relation to the pathogenesis of ED, as well as dietary modifications that may improve ED symptoms.
