ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the second most significant edible crop after wheat throughout the world. Bacterial blight disease is one of the major diseases causing significant loss in rice. The respiratory burst oxidase homolog D (RBOHD) gene is vital for resistance against the bacterial blight diseases that occur mostly in rice crops, which are familiar to their pathogen, Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. This review provides an understanding regarding the appearance and regulatory mechanisms of the RBOHD gene and the regulatory mechanism of the RBOHD gene in response to Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae infection in rice crops during growth. In addition, we evaluate the structural and functional features of RBOHD gene and its protein arrangements that are supportive against bacterial disease. These approaches contribute to enhance bacterial blight resistance in rice crops, which is helpful for sustainable agriculture. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
